A Citibank branch

Citigroup Inc has announced Itay Tuchman plans to step aside as global head of foreign exchange and leave the US bank after more than two decades.

A memo issued by the bank said that company veteran Stuart Staley will replace Tuchman with immediate effect.

Tuchman, who had previously held a number several senior positions across the company, intends to pursue opportunities outside the firm, according to the memo.

Staley served as the head of APAC markets and securities services for the bank for over four years, and has been with Citi for more than 18 years in total. Prior to joining Citi, he held executive roles at Texas-based energy services company Enron.

Last week, Citi appointed Aveline San as the chief executive officer of its Hong Kong and Macau businesses.
